Wessel Theron knows his limits

Many of you know Wessel Theron. Wessel is one of our long-time Members and has represented Centurion CC in various Leagues. Wessel has noticed over the last couple of years that he had lost a few meters with his iron play. So, he contacted me and wondered if it was time for him to make the switch to graphite shaft in his irons, with the new Titleist Irons in mind. At first his irons play hitting a steel shaft was very similar to his current set, but the moment we switched over to a stiffer graphite shaft, the difference in distance and control was quite substantial. Wessel instantly added an extra 10m to his irons, as well as adding more control and he felt the head better through impact.

Darren Fichardt is going for gold

Hats off to Centurion CC member Darren Fichardt, who managed to win back his European Tour Card. After missing out narrowly to maintain his Tour Card during the regular season, Darren had to head back to Q-School. The Qualifying School was played over 252 holes in three stages across 14 different venues. He shot a final round 69 to finish on 13-under par and 22nd overall.

Gerald Bolton has upped his game

After reading a few of my newsletters, Gerald Bolton booked an assessment with me last week. He arrived with two driver shafts not knowing which one will work best. After his assessment on the FlightScope, it was clear that he benefitted from the lighter option. He the also put a lighter shaft in his 3 wood that matched his driver shaft, which gave him much more confidence and consistency.

Mentor, Wessel Steyn, guiding our juniors in their golf journeys

On Saturday during the Captains challenge, there was a 4-Ball participating worth mentioning. Wessel Steyn took it on himself to play with his daughter, Laurenda and two other juniors, Nathan Roux and Stuart Potkin, in the 4-Ball Alliance Competition. It is fantastic to see that the Centurion CC Junior Members are in great hands with members like these.
